Two arrested after troopers find a pound of meth and stolen handgun

SPENCER CO. – Early Tuesday, Indiana State Trooper Andrew Recker attempted to stop a vehicle with a non-functioning taillight.

Trooper Recker located the vehicle at a rest stop and requested assistance from other officers. Troopers spoke to the driver, 37-year-old John Mooney, and his passenger, 33-year-old Rita Delong, both of Louisville, KY.

After a probable cause search, troopers located approximately one pound of suspected methamphetamine, heroin, a stolen firearm, and a syringe.

Mooney also showed visible signs of impairment.

Mooney and Delong were transported to the Spencer County Jail.

Mooney is facing charges of dealing meth with a firearm, possession of meth with a firearm, possession of stolen property, possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe, obstruction of justice, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated and an outstanding warrant in Vanderburgh County.

Rita Delong

Delong is facing charges of dealing meth with a firearm, possession of meth with a firearm, possession of heroin, possession of stolen property, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice.
