Obituary: Carolyn J. ‘Jeanie’ Manion

December 2, 1932-February 2, 2024

Carolyn J. ‘Jeanie’ Manion, 91, of Bedford, died at 8:35 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born December 2, 1932, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Cooper) Bailey. She married Marvin Manion on July 7, 1960, and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2013. Carolyn was a member of the Free Methodist Church and had worked as an administrative assistant for Rogers Group, Oolitic Ground Limestone, and Bedford Building Supply.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Sharon Baldwin, Carol Hunter, Doyle Hunter, Gary Hunter, Joni Godsey, Mike Manion, Melanie Manion, Rita Franklin, Brenda Weisheit, Amber Bailey, Becky Vincent, Bruce Manion, and Keith Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four siblings: Arthur Bailey, Barbara (Ivan) Hunter, Ronald Bailey, and Donald Bailey, and a nephew, Wayne Manion.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6th, at the Bedford Free Methodist Church, with Pastors David Colgan and Adam Strausser officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday, February 6th, at the Bedford Free Methodist Church. Instead of flowers, the family asks that friends consider memorial contributions to the Free Methodist Church in Jento will be made in Jeanie’s memory.
