Coroner IDs woman found in roadside ditch; autopsy may reveal cause of death

BLOOMINGTON– An autopsy may help investigators determine what caused the death of a 37-year-old woman whose body was found over the weekend in a roadside ditch.

Monroe County Coroner Joani Stalcup has identified the deceased person as Jade Sanders, an unhoused Bloomington woman. An autopsy was scheduled in Terre Haute Wednesday morning, after which a preliminary cause of death will be released, Stalcup said.

A passenger in a car traveling in the 3200 block of South Walnut Street Pike at about 3 p.m. Sunday noticed what appeared to be a body in a patch of brush in a ditch near the road. They called 911, and police arrived to find Sanders dead.

The investigation continues; anyone with information can contact BPD Detective Chris Scott at 812-339-4477.
