Seymour man detained on child molestation charge

SEYMOUR – Seymour police arrested a man on a felony charge of child molestation.

Police arrested 31-year-old Pablo Fernandez Ortega after they received a report that he had sexually assaulted a 9-year-old child.

Fernandez-Ortega was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday on a Level 1 felony charge of child molesting.

According to Seymour Police Lt. C.J. Foster, on January 20, 2024, officers at the Seymour Police Department received a report of a 9-year-old being sexually assaulted by a 31-year-old male who lived in the same home.

Investigators conducted a forensic interview with the child at Susie’s Place in Bloomington.

On Wednesday, police interviewed Fernandez-Ortega and he was detained. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bond pending his initial hearing.
