Kentucky business owner arrested for theft in two Indiana counties

Southern Indiana – Wednesday, January 24, 2024: A Kentucky business owner was arrested on a felony theft charge Thursday after being arrested on the same charge in Washington County earlier this month.

An investigation began in September of 2023 when a Floyd County, Indiana, homeowner contacted Detective Tim Denby with the Indiana State Police Special Investigations Section and informed him of possible illegal activity by 29-year-old Shawn Ray Hull of Buffalo, Kentucky. Hull is one of two owners of Power Home Exteriors LLC. In this case, the homeowner had paid Hull more than $15,000 for window replacement in April 2023, but no work was ever started.

In November 2023, a second victim, this time from Washington County, Indiana, contacted Detective Denby and advised they paid Power Home Exteriors $7,000.00 of a $14,000.00 estimate for window replacement. As in the previous case, no work was ever started, and both homeowners stated their calls went unanswered when they attempted to contact the company.

During his investigation, Detective Denby learned Shawn Hull had listed the business online with a Louisville address; however, there was no actual business at the given location. He also learned that the company never ordered or purchased replacement windows and that no work was ever started or completed in either case.

As a result of the investigation, Detective Denby arrested Shawn Ray Hull for Theft, a level 6 Felony, in Washington County, Indiana, on January 11, 2024. On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Shawn Hull was arrested on the same charge in Floyd County, Indiana.
