MITCHELL –The Mitchell City Council is moving forward to increase the city’s trash collection fee.
Residents will not be allowed to opt out of the service.
A public hearing is scheduled for Monday, January 29 at 6:00 p.m. in the council chambers. The public will be allowed to voice their opinion during the hearing.
The current $10 monthly fee has not increased for several years. However, due to inflation, it will increase to $14 a month this year, generating $16,510 a month or $198,120 a year for the city. The fee will again increase in 2025 to $15 a month.
