Officers seize meth, marijuana and crushed Adderall

BEDFORD – Two people were detained on Wednesday, January 10, after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and Probation Department officers found meth and pills.

Police detained 50-year-old Nicole Ryan, of Bedford, on charges of possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana. Also detained was 34-year-old Nathan Way, of Bedford, on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on that day, Lawrence County Probation reported they were at a home in the 5000 block of State Road 158, searching for illegal substances.

Responding to assist were Sheriff Greg Day, Deputy Andrew Tillet, Bedford Police Canine Officer Faheem Bade, and his dog Zazu.

Officers found two baggies of marijuana and a glass plate with meth residue. After a search of the home by Zazu, officers found 0.45 grams of crushed Adderall, a glass smoking device with meth residue, and a container of crystal meth. Police seized a total of 2.5 grams of meth.

Probation officers found a smoking device containing burnt marijuana and another smoking device with meth residue in Nicole’s purse.

A bag containing marijuana, cigarettes, and other drug paraphernalia was also found.

Nathan Way was detained and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. Nicole Ryan was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital for a medical evaluation and, after being medically cleared, was transported to jail.
