Seymour swimmers sweep Stars

SEYMOUR – Seymour swept to victories over Bedford North Lawrence during high school swimming action on Tuesday.

The Owls won the boys meet by a 108-74 count, and Seymour also claimed the girls meet with a 108-68 victory.

The Stars won four events in each meet. In the boys, Garrett Gabhart was a double winner, taking the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.71) and 100 backstroke (59.67). Isaiah Eicle touched first in the 500 freestyle in 5:25.81, and he combined with Carson Puckett, Oliver Brown and Gabhart to finish first in the 200 free relay (1:39.23).

In the girls meet, BNL also won four races. Ava Lipp was a double winner in the 200 individual medley (2:31.44) and 100 backstroke (1:07.46), while Cookie King claimed the 100 butterfly (1:08.00). King teamed with Lipp, Emma Heinzman and Mia Manke to win the 200 free relay (1:56.49).

The Stars will compete in the boys Hoosier Hills Conference meet at Jeffersonville on Jan. 27.
