Obituary: Edward L. Cook

March 29, 1938 – January 12, 2024

Edward Leland Cook, also known as Eddy, passed away on January 12, 2024, at the age of 85 in Bedford, Indiana. He was born on March 29, 1938, in Chico, California.

Eddy was a beloved individual who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Eddy was an incredibly kind and humorous man. He had a knack for lifting people’s spirits and brightening their day with
his jokes and pranks. It was rare to see him without a smile on his face. His presence brought joy to those around him, and the world is a lesser place without his kind and gentle soul.

In his career, Eddy served as a groundskeeper and gardener at East Lawn Cemetery. He also owned the Rock Hound Café in Starbuck, Washington, and had a passion for art. Eddy was a modern artist, creating custom jewelry and belt buckles. He had a unique talent for transforming everyday objects into works of art. Additionally, Eddy was an avid bowler and enjoyed participating in a bowling league.

He was a life member of the Clampers, a fraternal organization with roots
tracing back to the California Gold Rush. Eddy proudly served in the US Army, and his military associations were an integral part of his life.

Eddy is survived by his brothers Marvin, James, and Curtis, his daughter Peggy Pourner, and Bobby Graham. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Alicia Pourner, John Pourner III, Edward Pourner, Sky Costen, and Summer Cleveland, as well as his great-grandchildren John IV, Jaquline, Gloria, Gwendolyn, Brandon, Edward Jr, Connor, and Henry. Hewas preceded in death by his parents Franklin Cook and Winona Kietsock (Smith), his sisters Sherie, Ethel, and Shella, his son Michel, his daughter Becky Costen, and his grandson Samuel Costen.

Eddy was a member of the White River Baptist Church, where his funeral service will be held. The funeral will take place at 7705 Tunnelton Road, Bedford, IN 47421. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a short visitation on Tuesday, January 16, starting at 1:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM.

After the service, Eddy will be interred in the White River Baptist Church Cemetery. Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford, Indiana, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Eddy’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and artistic talents. May he rest in peace.
