Bedford woman arrested on drug charges after probation officers search her residence

BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested on Thursday, January 4, after Lawrence County Probation officers searched her residence.

Bedford Police Officer Steven Hatton Jr. and Captian Kody Emmons were called to a home in the 300 block of R Street at 5:40 p.m. to detain 40-year-old Melissa Andis.

The probation officers were searching for Andis’ home because she was on probation.

Probation Officer Raquel Turner reported she had found a baggie containing crystal meth on Andis’ bed with a knife blade, two cards, and a mirror that all tested positive for meth residue.

Andis, 40, of Bedford, was detained on charges of possession of meth under five grams, unlawful possession of a syringe, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers also found a metal spoon and cotton that tested positive for fentanyl and a glass smoking device and glass ashtray that both tested positive for meth residue. Eight small baggies, a syringed that contained meth residue. They also found a bottle of pills.
