South swimmers sweep past Stars

BEDFORD – Bloomington South swept to wins over Bedford North Lawrence in the final home meet of the season on Tuesday night.

The Panthers splashed to a 120-58 victory in the girls meet, in addition to logging a 107-67 triumph in the boys meet.

BNL’s highlight was courtesy of Garrett Gabhart, who roared to wins in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.53) and 100 backstroke (57.62). Isaiah Eicle was the winner in the 100 butterfly (1:00.36), and Talon Hooten was unopposed in the diving (103.20 points).

“It’s always tough against South,” BNL coach Adam Young said. “We had a lot of nice swims as we wrap up the regular season. The lineups are solidifying for championships.”

In the girls meet, Cookie King was the lone winner for the Stars as she claimed the 100 butterfly in 1:06.78.

“Cookie King had a great meet with nice drops in both her events,” Young said. “I really feel like we are primed for a great end to the season.”

BNL’s girls will compete in the Hoosier Hills Conference meet at New Albany on Saturday.
