Bedford woman violates probation terms and receives prison sentence

BEDFORD – On Wednesday, January 3, a Bedford woman was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction by Lawrence Superior Court I Judge John M. Plummer III after violating the terms of her probation.

On September 14, 2021, Brooklyn G. Fisher, 27, pled guilty to escape, a Level 5 felony, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. She was sentenced to six years in the Indiana Department of Corrections, with four years and 346 days suspended, and placed on two years of supervised probation.

However, Fisher violated the terms of her probation.

Judge Plummer revoked Fisher’s suspended sentence. He will now serve four years and 346 days in prison.

Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Cummings said., “Probation is not a right in Indiana, it is a privilege that is extended to defendants to try to make positive changes in their lives and to remain a part of the Lawrence County community. However, failing to comply with probation terms and conditions, Brooklyn Fisher gave up the privilege of staying in the community.”
