Concerned parents refuse to allow intoxicated daughter to leave home with grandchild

WILLIAMS – A Williams woman was arrested on Wednesday, December 27, after she called 911 at 7:45 p.m., notifying Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Central Dispatch that her parents were refusing to allow her and her son to leave their home.

She stated her parents were falsely accusing her of being intoxicated and would not allow her to leave the home with her child.

Deputy Shaun Cabral responded to the 1000 block of Stumphole Bridge Road.

Alexandera Hattabaugh.

Near the home, an officer passed a white SUV driven by the female caller, 25-year-old Alexandera Hattabaugh.

Police went to the home and spoke to Hattabaugh’s parents, who told police they believed their daughter was under the influence of something but didn’t know what and were concerned for their grandson’s welfare.

The officer left the home and located Hattabaugh’s vehicle at the Speedway station.

The officer approached the vehicle and knocked on the window. Hattabaugh appeared disoriented and could not answer simple questions. She said her parents refused to talk to her about serious issues she was dealing with.

Hattabaugh refused to perform sobriety field tests or a breathalyzer until the baby’s father arrived to pick him up. She did admit to drinking a beer before leaving her parent’s home.

Once the child’s father arrived on the scene, Hattabaugh submitted to field sobriety tests, which she failed. She also had a blood-alcohol content of 0.102 percent. She was detained on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangerment, OWI, and neglect of a dependent.
