Obituary: Jane A. Fansler

October 26, 1950 – December 25, 2023

Jane Angelyn (Clampitt) Fansler, 73, of Norman, Indiana, went to be with Jesus on Christmas. She passed away in the evening on December 25, 2023.

She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, John Fansler; her son, J.W. (Stephanie) Fansler of Norman; her daughter, Jordan (Carl) Roeder of Williams; and five grandchildren: Joanna and Wesley Fansler and Jameson, Declan and Owen Roeder.  She accepted and loved her daughter-in-law and son-in-law as if they were her daughter and son. She also leaves behind two brothers: Jerry (Tracey) Clampitt of Bedford and Jody (Tami) Clampitt of Heltonville, her sister-in-law Cora Clampitt of Mexico, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews, of whom she was very proud.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Luella (Manzenberger) Clampitt, and two brothers, Jim Clampitt of Mexico, Missouri, and John Clampitt of Heltonville, Indiana.

Originally from Buddha, Indiana, Jane graduated from Tunnelton High School in 1968 and loved attending school reunions. She graduated from Indiana State University and received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economic Education. She met her husband, John, while both played for the marching band.  After graduating, she worked for her parents’ farm store, WBIW, writing radio ads (which she loved), and for Congressman Joel Deckard before raising and educating her children at home. She was a 4-H club leader and volunteered for more than 20 years.

Jane made her family her priority. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren, with grandchildren being front and center. She was proud to tell people that she played soccer with them. She loved helping them with their 4-H projects, especially sewing and poster projects. Jane loved her grandchildren well, learning about them and trying to show them her love in a way that suited each child best.  She was generous, sharing all she had with her family without hesitation.

Jane attended Mundell Christian Church and was blessed and welcomed by the church’s community.  She loved reading and researching natural medicine, science, and ways of improving herself and helping others. She enjoyed music and dancing; one of her favorite events was seeing Riverdance in person. She liked visiting Kentucky with her husband, John, to watch horses and relax. She loved playing cards and word games, watching tiny house makeovers, getting together with friends or family for meals, and discussing God and spiritual matters. She was a gem and is already greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at Mundell Christian Church on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow in Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Mundell Christian Church.

The arrangements and care for Jane A. Fansler have been entrusted to the Ferguson-Lee Chaple of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford.
