Two dead, one seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident on US 50 in Seymour

SEYMOUR – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a crash that claimed the lives of two men Wednesday and left another seriously injured.

The two-vehicle crash happened in the 2200 block east of US 50.

Trawaun Litzlbauer, 20, of Indianapolis, was driving the Sonata with 67-year-old Stanley Baughman, Jr., of Medora, as a passenger. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Charles Callahan, 43, of Seymour, was driving the Chevy pickup and was flown by medical helicopter to U of L Hospital in Louisville.

According to Sheriff Rick Meyer, Litzlbauer was driving a white 2007 Hyundai Sonata west on US 50 at the top of Crane Hill northeast of Brownstown shortly before noon when the crash with a white 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling east on US 50 occurred.

US 50 was closed for about two hours as an ISP crash reconstruction team was called to the scene to assist with the investigation, which is ongoing, Sheriff Meyer added.

Assisting in investigating the accident were an Indiana State Police for Crash Reconstruction, Jackson County EMS, Brownstown Fire Department first responders, Brownstown Police Department officer, and Indiana Conservation officers.
