Highway Department crews were treating slick roadways this morning

BEDFORD – Lawrence County Highway Superintendent Brandi Webb said highway crews treated some slick roadway spots this morning.

Bedford North Lawrence Schools were on a two-hour delay.

“The icy spots were spotty through the county,” added Webb.

She also gave a year-end report to the commissioners.

The county was awarded a $1 million Community Crossing grant for paving and asphalt rejuvenation projects in 2024.

The county replaced the bridge on Palestine Road.

The county replaced the superstructure bridge on Locust Road. The bridge is scheduled to be reopened by the end of the year, depending on weather conditions.

Replaced 68 culverts and did 68 driveway culvert replacements.

Crack sealed 19 miles, chip and sealed 20 miles, and paved 15 miles of country roads.

Crews were called out to remove 192 downed trees.
