Shoults pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Level 6 felony, and leaving the scene of an accident, a Class B misdemeanor, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. The plea agreement, negotiated by a Lawrence County Deputy Prosecutor in November of 2023, outlined that Shoults would execute 910 days in the Indiana Department Corrections with credit for 112 days of time served, the remaining 798 days of the sentence was suspended, and he was ordered to do 545 days of supervised probation.

After failing an alcohol screen eight days after the time of sentencing Judge Cline sentenced him to serve the remaining 798 days of his sentence in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Lawrence County Prosecutor Sam Arp

“When individuals fail to follow the terms of probation while being allowed to remain in the community, they know the consequences of their actions, and in this case, it is prison,” said Lawrence County Prosecutor Samuel C. Arp, II.
