Hoosier Uplands announces 2023 Community Services award

BEDFORD – The Hoosier Uplands Community Services Award for 2023 has been awarded to Byron W. Steele from Bedford. “Byron represents what we all should aspire to be. He is generous, hard-working, and honest”, said David Miller, Hoosier Uplands CEO.

For five decades, Byron has not just practiced law; he has personified the adage,” If you do what you enjoy doing, you will never work a day in your life.” His legal acumen and enduring love for the profession have made him an indispensable force within our community. Along with his brother Brent, Byron has dedicated 50 years to shaping the legal landscape, setting a standard of evidence that few can match.

Byron’s service as an attorney for the City of Mitchell under four different administrations is just one example of his commitment to public service. In essence, he is not just a county lawyer, and he has multifaceted talents. His musical gifts, artistic talent, creative writing skills, devotion to friends and family make him a true “renaissance man”. Hoosier Uplands is pleased to have Byron W. Steele as our 2023 Award recipient. This award has been given since 1987 to an outstanding citizen of Lawrence, Orange, Washington, Martin, or Crawford counties.
