BEDFORD – Bloomington North took advantage of six forfeited weight classes to conquer Bedford North Lawrence 59-18 during high school wrestling action on Thursday night.

The Stars won three matches on the mat. Wyatt Philpott (113 pounds) Jorj Filler (126) and Junior Arellano (285) all posted pins in their respective divisions. Philpott trapped Oscar Riggon, Filler flattened Cas Crevello and Arellano topped Isa Muhammas.

“With our forfeits, we knew we weren’t winning this dual,” BNL coach Chris Branam said. “But it was especially hard to not see Tate (Tanksley) or Jaxon (Powell) out there.

“Ethan Stancombe’s loss (8-7 to Cael Hickok at 165) was a heartbreaker, losing by a point. It’s a match he can win. Having Junior out there was awesome. Wyatt had a ton of energy, and Jorj won a good match against a good opponent.

“Time to regroup and get ready for next week.”

The Stars will host Seymour on Dec. 14.
