Three Louisville men arrested during I-65 traffic stop near Seymour

SEYMOUR – On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a traffic stop by an Indiana State Trooper on I-65 in Jackson County, led to the arrest of three men from Louisville, Kentucky after a large amount of suspected fentanyl was located in the vehicle.

The incident began when Trooper Randel Miller conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet passenger car on I-65 Northbound near the 48-mile marker, just south of Seymour. 

During the traffic stop, Trooper Miller determined that the three adult male occupants may have illegal drugs.  A backseat passenger, Alonzo Dixon, 28, Louisville, KY, fled from Trooper Miller across all lanes of I-65.

Deputy Max Marcoux, Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, along with an off-duty Clark County, Indiana deputy were able to catch up to Dixon and detain him. 

During a search of the vehicle, officers located a bag suspected of containing nearly 200 pills believed to contain fentanyl.

The driver of the vehicle, Landon Pearl, 18, of Louisville, KY, had additional pills containing a controlled substance on his person. 

Devon Peach

A third occupant, Devon Peach, 30, Louisville, KY was wanted on a parole warrant out of Kentucky. 

All three men were arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail on preliminary felony charges of dealing a narcotic drug and possession of over 28 grams of a narcotic drug.  Dixon was additionally arrested on a charge of resisting law enforcement.  Peach was charged with an additional felony charge of neglect of a dependent due to an eight-month-old juvenile being in the vehicle and the outstanding warrant out of Kentucky.

Child Protective Services responded to the scene to take the small child into their custody.

Trp. Miller was assisted by additional troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post, the Seymour Police Department, the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, and a Federal Wildlife Officer.
