INDIANA – Saving on your energy bill is a gift that keeps on giving. Duke Energy shared four simple and free ways to help you lower your energy costs now and throughout the new year.
Heating System: Set the thermostat to the lowest comfortable setting and change air filters regularly to avoid making your heating system work harder than necessary.
Electric Water Heater: Set the water heater thermostat to 120 degrees F and install low-flow showerheads and faucets to help use less hot water.
Refrigerator and Freezer: Set refrigerator at 35 to 38 degrees F and freezer at 4 to 5 degrees if part of a fridge/freezer unit. Set separate freezers to zero.
Washer and Dryer: Wash in cold water when possible and use dryer balls to maximize airflow and cut drying time.
