Putnamville Post investigating pedestrian fatality with the driver fleeing the scene

VIGO CO. –  The Indiana State Police Putnamville Post is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday night northbound on US 41 at Gilchrist Drive where a pedestrian was struck by a red or maroon Dodge Avenger which then left the scene.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Daniel Organ, Trooper Rondell Shelton, and Sergeant Kris Fitzgerald indicated at approximately 7:20 p.m., a male identified as Gary B. Clark, 78, from Terre Haute, was attempting to cross US 41 at Gilchrist Drive when he was struck by a red or maroon Dodge Avenger which then left the scene.

As a result of the crash, Clark sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Vigo County Coroner’s Office. 

Anyone with any information about this crash is asked to contact the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post in Greencastle at 1-800-225-8576 and ask to speak with Trooper Daniel Organ or Sergeant Kris Fiztgerald.  The suspect vehicle is a red or maroon Dodge Avenger with heavy front-end damage to the passenger side and front bumper.
