Clark County man arrested for felony theft and corrupt business practices

CLARK CO. – Authorities arrested a former Clarksville car dealership employee on felony charges after an ISP investigation that began in August.

On August 4, 2023, Detective David Makowsky with the Indiana State Police Organized Crime and Corruption Unit began an investigation of former Coyle Chevrolet employee Jon Ryan Blakely. It was alleged that over an approximately one-year period, funds had been illegally transferred from a company credit card to accounts owned and controlled by Jon Blakely while Blakely was employed as a general manager for Coyle Chevrolet. The business issued the company credit card to Jon Blakely; however, the card was only to be used as part of his business dealings with vehicle wholesalers.

During his investigation, Detective Makowsky subpoenaed and examined relevant bank and PayPal accounts as well as business and email records. As a result, it is alleged Jon Blakely illegally transferred over $200,000 in company funds to accounts he privately controlled. After the investigation, Detective Makowsky submitted all information to the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible charges.

On December 1, 2023, an arrest warrant was issued for 34-year-old Jon Ryan Blakely as a result of the investigation. The warrant was for one count of theft and one count of corrupt business practices. Each charge is a Level 5 Felony.

Officers with the Clark County Sheriff’s Department served the warrant the same day. Jon Blakely was remanded into the Clark County Jail without incident.
