I-70 traffic stop leads to the discovery of cocaine and a handgun

CLAY CO. – On Tuesday, November 28, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Trooper Brad Fyfe was patrolling Interstate 70 near the twenty-three-mile marker when he stopped the driver of a passenger vehicle for traveling westbound at 84 mph.

The passenger vehicle driver was identified as Rafael A. Garcia, 42, of Indianapolis.  While speaking to Garcia, criminal indicators were observed that resulted in a vehicle search. Police located approximately three grams of cocaine and a handgun with multiple magazines. 

Garcia was taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond on charges of possession of cocaine of less than five grams and operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a driver’s license
