Purdue Extension offering “Passing It On: Farm Transition to the Next Generation” Succession Planning Workshop

SALEM – Do you have questions about the succession planning process for your family farm? Wondering about how owner financing might work during this process? What about simply knowing how to start the transition conversation as a family?

All these questions and MORE will be part of a workshop offered through Purdue Extension on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Hall at 1500 East R.C. Morris Drive in Salem.

Paige Pratt

The workshop theme centers around “Passing It On Farm Transition to the Next Generation.” Featured speaker Paige Pratt will share personal experiences and provide steps to help farm families start the transition conversation when they leave the workshop.

Additional local professionals will join the lineup of presenters, sharing important information on current legislation related to farm ownership, long-term care insurance considerations for the younger generations, and owner financing for farm heirs.

The workshop will be jam-packed with great topics and expert presenters looking forward to sharing their professional expertise while helping answer questions for the farm families in attendance.

Attending this workshop costs $30 a person and includes lunch, but there are cost-saving options for farm families who want to bring multiple members. For farm families that include four individuals, the total registration fee is $100; if more than four are attending, an additional $20 for a family member is required.

Farm families who are seriously trying to navigate the succession process may be interested in registering for a one-on-one consultation with Paige Pratt that includes three members of your farm family on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

There is a very limited number of spots for these sessions. An additional fee of $75 is necessary
to secure a consult session. RSVP’s are required by calling or sending information to Purdue
Extension – Washington County at 806 Martinsburg Rd, Suite 104, Salem, IN 47167 at
dhowellw@purdue.edu or call 812-883-4601.
