One dead, one detained after shooting at Columbus mobile home park

COLUMBUS — Columbus Police Department detectives are investigating a Monday afternoon shooting on Joseph Cox Court where one person was killed and another detained.

Columbus Police officers responded around 4:45 p.m. Monday to the 2600 block of Joseph Cox Court after a report of shots fired.

The home is in the Homestead Mobile Home Park off of Middle Road.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult male who was suffering from a gunshot wound. That man was pronounced dead “a short time later,” according to police.

A “person of interest” was detained after being found near the residence where the shooting occurred.

“The investigation into the shooting is ongoing,” police said. “However, there is no threat to the public now.”

No names of the victim or suspect have been released.
