Domestic dispute leads to arrest

OOLITIC – A Bedford man was arrested after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a domestic fight in the 1000 block of Walnut Street in Oolitic on Thursday, November 23.

Dillon Robertson

The female caller said she was struck by 27-year-old Dillon Robertson.

When police arrived at 6:03 p.m. Robertson approached the officer. He told the officer he and the mother of his children had been in an argument. Robertson told the officer he didn’t mean to hit the woman and didn’t remember doing it saying he “blacked out” from anger. He stated his wife set him off by saying is was not a good dad.

Officers then spoke to the woman who said she and Robertson had two young children together ages two years old and two months old. She told police that Robertson arrived at her home around 2:30 p.m. to pick her and the kids up to attend a family Thanksgiving dinner so he could spend time with the kids. On the way home he got upset because he is not allowed to make any decisions about the kids and complained about never being told anything about the kids. When they arrived at the woman’s home, she exited the vehicle and walked to the porch with the two kids. Once on the porch, Robertson continued to yell and grabbed the woman by her hair. He then let go of her hair and slapped her in the face. She was able to grab the kids, go inside, and call the police. While Robertson remained on the porch.

The woman suffered no injuries from the attack.

Police were unable to view the incident from a porch camera because it occurred outside of the camera’s range, but the camera did pick up audio from the incident.

The woman refused to sign a battery affidavit stating it was “too much to deal with”.

Robertson was arrested on two counts of domestic battery in the presence of a child less than 16 years and transported to jail.
