Driver fails to stop for officers, detained on marijuana charges

BEDFORD – Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a French Lick man on Saturday, November 25th after they attempted to stop his vehicle for having no working license plate light.

The deputy was in the area of State Road 37 and State Road 60 West when he noticed a white car with no working license plate lights. The office initiated a traffic stop with both lights and sirens sounding but the driver refused to stop. The driver continued South on State Road 37 and other officers responded. The vehicle then turned on Boone Lane.

Officers made a felon stop and commanded the driver out of the vehicle. He was then approached by officers and handcuffed 29-year-old Joshua Bundy.

Bundy told officers he didn’t stop because he was trying to call the registered owner of the vehicle.

Police found two baggies wrapped in paper towels in his sweatshirt pocket. The baggies contained marijuana.

Bundy was detained on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, and possession of marijuana. The vehicle was towed by Mikel’s Towing and Recovery LLC.
