Two teens steal Smirnoff from Walmart and are detained

BEDFORD – Two Bedford teens were detained Sunday, November 12 at 5:25 p.m. after Bedford Police officers received an anonymous tip that the two teens were headed to Walmart to steal alcoholic beverages.

Walmart security was alerted to be on the lookout for the two teens. At 5:40 p.m. Walmart security alerted Bedford Police that the two juveniles had left Walmart out of the Lawn and Garden doors.

While en route to Walmart, Sgt. Faheem Bade located two juveniles walking west of Lake’s Auto and was able to identify the teens as those they received the tip about due to previous encounters with the teens. Sgt. Bade stopped the teens and asked about them stealing alcohol from Walmart.

Sgt. Bade found a 750 ml bottle of Smirnoff Red, White, and Berry hidden in a female’s front waistband. He then detected the teen had been drinking.

The teens took a breath test and tested positive for drinking and were detained.

Officers then obtained the security video from Walmart. The video showed the two teens stealing the alcohol and hiding it in her pants while in the shoe department. The two then headed to the Garden Center and left the store.

One teen was released to her father with a promise to appear in court. The other teen was transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center. Both are facing charges of theft and illegal consumption. Both were issued no trespass orders from the store.
