Attend the virtual Hellbender conservation discussion with experts on Nov. 14

INDIANA – Don’t forget to register for our live, virtual panel discussion on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. ET discussing the hellbender, one of Indiana’s rare and endangered species. This panel event will feature partners who work together on hellbender conservation efforts and will allow for audience interaction, as audience members will be able to submit questions to the panelists.

Panelists include key representatives from the Indiana DNR, Purdue’s Help the Hellbender project, Kentucky DNR, and Mesker Park Zoo. Other organizations in this partnership and their contributions will be celebrated during the panel.

This virtual event is family friendly. You will need a computer or handheld mobile device and an internet connection to attend. The discussion will be recorded, but the DNR webinar hosts and panel will not be able to see your face on screen.

Hellbender Salamanders

The largest salamanders in the U.S., hellbenders have been on the decline in the state since the mid-1900s and are currently listed as endangered in Indiana. During the last population count in 2011, only about 200 were found.
