Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce investigation leads to arrest of Greentown Man

GREENTOWN – On Monday, November 6, 2023, detectives from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) arrested a 33-year-old Greentown, Indiana man on charges of Possession of Child Pornography following a search warrant at his Greentown residence.

The investigation began in October 2023 as an undercover operation. During the one-month investigation, detectives were able to determine that an individual at a residence near the 600 block of Maple Street in Greentown, Indiana, was in possession of child pornography.  During the service of the search warrant, multiple electronic devices were found and seized. 

As a result of the investigation, Markus Benitez, 33, of Greentown, was arrested and transported to the Howard County Jail without incident and preliminarily charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography a Level 5 felony.

The Indiana State Police oversees the ICAC Task Force, a multi-agency task force that investigates allegations of using the internet to sexually exploit or entice children. The ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
