No town election in Orleans today

ORLEANS – There is no Town Election in Orleans today.  During the Primary Election filing period earlier this year, only one person filed their candidacy for each of the three council positions and the Clerk-Treasurer in Orleans.

As a result, the Orange County Election Board unanimously approved a resolution in early September to allow the Town of Orleans to forego the 2023 municipal election.

The resolution states in part that after Tuesday, November 7th, the circuit court clerk shall upon demand of the candidate, certify all unopposed candidates for office in the same manner as if elected to the office as provided by Indiana Law.

Taking office once again on Jan. 1st will be Council members John F. Noblitt, Randy Clark, and John H. Lindley, along with longtime Clerk-Treasurer Robert Henderson.

This decision made by the election board will save the town approximately $6,000 in election expenses, said Henderson.
