Commissioners handle “housekeeping” tasks

BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Commissioners had a busy Monday morning keeping the county running smoothly.

The commissioners voted to allow the Lawrence County Health Department to hire Mitchel Knapp to serve the department’s CORE Health Services employee. He will work two days a week for a total of 16 hours and will be paid $24 an hour.

His salary will be provided through grant funding.

Lawrence County Attorney David Smith opened several bids for salt, fuel, and materials for the highway department. All of those bids were taken under advisement.

The Commissioner approved the 2024 holiday schedule, the Lawrence County Commissioners and Council meeting schedules, the 2024 payroll schedule, and the 2024 claim schedule.

The Commissioners approved the appointment of Katelyn Lee to the Community Corrections Advisory Board.

The commissioners granted Bedford Revitiatlization Inc. permission to use the courthouse square from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 2 for the 2023 Christmas Parade and Christmas on the Square events.
