Indiana State Police investigate a pedestrian struck on Interstate 65

TIPPECANOE CO. – Thursday around 2:15 a.m., the Indiana State Police and the Lafayette Police Department responded to a pedestrian struck on Interstate 65 northbound near the 172-mile marker.

A preliminary investigation by Trooper Miramontes revealed that a 2015 Honda CRV, being driven by Ella Hollis, 46, from Indianapolis, was traveling north on Interstate 65 near the 172-mile marker in the middle lane. At that time, a pedestrian was walking on I-65 for an unknown reason and was struck by the CRV.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by the Tippecanoe County Coroner. The pedestrian’s name will be released at a later date by the Coroner’s Office.

Hollis sustained minor injuries in the crash. 

Trooper Miramontes was assisted at the scene by other troopers from the Lafayette Post, Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction, Lafayette Police Department, Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office, Tippecanoe County EMS, and INDOT.
