Bicycles stolen from Indiana Memorial Union

BLOOMINGTON – Two men were arrested after Indiana University Police responded to two reports of the men cutting off bike locks near Indiana Memorial Union early on Saturday, October 21.

The callers were able to give police a description of the men involved.

Officers arrived and found Joseph Akers and Nathan Blackburn who matched the descriptions given by callers.

Both men are not affiliated with IU and both had active trespass warnings from all IU properties.

Both men were detained. Akers faces charges of theft, criminal trespass, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Blackburn was issued a summons to appear in court on a charge of criminal trespass and was later released from custody.
