Bunker Hill woman dies in Miami County crash

MIAMI CO. – On Monday at approximately 4:48 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bunker Hill Police Department responded to an injury-involved crash at the intersection of US 31 and State Road 218 East in which a Bunker Hill, Indiana woman died.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Abby Russell revealed that Travis Witt, 51, Kokomo, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu north on US 31, approaching State Road 218 East. Evidence indicates the Malibu continued northbound into the intersection of State Road 218 East, striking a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic turning south from State Road 218 East onto US 31. 

The driver of the Chevrolet Sonic was identified as 84-year-old Audrey N. Boyer, of Bunker Hill. Boyer was pronounced deceased at the crash scene by the Miami County Coroner’s Office.

Witt was transported via medical helicopter to a Fort Wayne hospital.

This is an ongoing investigation. At this time, neither the consumption of alcoholic beverages nor narcotics is suspected of contributing to this crash.
