MITCHELL – An Oolitic man was arrested on Thursday, October 19th at 1:30 p.m. after Lawrence County Sgt. Lonnie Johnson responded to the Holiday Drive-In, in the 1000 block of State Road 37 following a report that a utility trailer had been stolen.
Sgt. Johnson launched an investigation using surveillance camera footage and other investigative techniques, and was able to identify the suspect’s vehicle – a red Dodge Nitro owned by 29-year-old Tyler Egemo, of Oolitic.
Sgt. Johnson and Officer Shaun Cabral traveled to Egemo’s Oolitic home and found Egemo spray painting the stolen trailer.
As officers approached, Egemo attempted to quickly drive away, but he was stopped.
Sgt. Johnson detained Egemo on a charge of theft and driving while his driver’s license was suspended with a prior conviction.
The trailer was returned to the owner.
