Off-road vehicle accident claims the life of a juvenile

LAPORTE CO. – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle (ORV) accident that occurred Saturday in LaPorte County. 

At approximately 4:30 p.m., the LaPorte County 911 Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an ORV accident with injury near the 3900 block of North County Road 350 East in New Prairie.

Upon arrival, responders discovered that a 14-year-old was operating a four-wheeler on private property at a high rate of speed when they struck an object causing fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.     

The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. No additional information is available at this time.

Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted in the investigation by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office and the LaPorte County Coroner’s Office.
