Bedford Board of Works approves City improvement projects

BEDFORD – The Board of Works and Safety meeting saw the approval of a variety of ongoing projects for the City of Bedford, as well as a minor subdivision for William Howe.

  • Presented by Ashlynne Bender, the board accepted the Regional Opportunities Initiatives (ROI) Grant Agreement for the Spider Creek project. The grant provides an additional $250,000.
  • William A Howe’s request to subdivide his properties at 2321 and 2319 Mitchell Road, into two separate parcels for the sale of one half, was approved by the board.
  • Presented by David Flinn, the board accepted the work order for Tunnelton Road Street lights, #51016464 for Duke Energy’s Lighting Contract Agreement in the amount of $5,865.93.
  • The Board approved the proposal for the City Concourse Building on H Street. The shop section of the building has a leak in the roof.
    • David Flinn’s proposal to accept the bid for $42,382.59 from Flynn and Sons will include a new metal roof to replace the old rubber roofing, new siding for the north side, and two new garage doors.
  • Harp Commons
    • The board accepted Dayton’s Heating & Cooling bid for $6,200 to replace the heating and cooling system at Harp Commons.
    • The board accepted bids for concrete work and approved the recommendation of a bid from Marble Concrete for $13,914
