When police arrived they found the male victim at 911 Peaceful Valley Road. The male said he had been at Martin’s house the night before to give him a ride to the store and hang out. But Martin became “abnormal”. He was accusing the male victim of taking his belongings. The victim denied the allegations. Martin then punched the victim and kneed the male in the head multiple times. He then stabbed him in the stomach with a knife. He told police the altercation took place in the kitchen.

The male victim told police he attempted to stand up and Martin made him sit back down and forced him to sit in the chair for hours.

While he was sitting in the chair Martin took the male’s cell phone and dialed 911. Martin then held the cell phone up to the male victim with the knife to his throat and told the 911 dispatcher that everything was okay.

The male victim was finally able to get away and call 911.

The male victim had a stab wound and a cut with dried blood on his upper lip and his left eye was bloodshot. The male was treated by an IU LifeLine ambulance crew. The probable cause affidavit did not state how severe the stab wound was or if the victim was transported to the hospital.

The male victim signed a battery affidavit.

Police found Martin inside a home at 625 Peaceful Valley Road. He exited the home and was detained on charges of battery with a deadly weapon, criminal confinement, and interfering with reporting a crime. Martin told police there was a video inside that they needed to look at.

Police then applied for a search warrant for the property which was granted by Lawrence County Superior Court I Judge John Plummer III.

Two dogs were found inside the home and they were picked up by a relative. The probable cause affidavit did not say what officers found in the home.
