Four juveniles detained after BPD responds to Lincoln Elementary

BEDFORD – Four Bedford juveniles were arrested after Bedford Police officers were requested to Lincoln Elementary School on Wednesday at 8:17 p.m.

According to Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore, the caller reported multiple juveniles were damaging the shelter house at the school.

An officer arrived at the school and parked on the west side of the building. The officer proceeded to walk around the southwest side of the building and approached the shelter house. The officers found five juveniles in the shelter house.

Four of the juveniles ran north from the shelter house and one remained on the scene when the officer yelled “Police, stop”.

The other four juveniles continued to run from the scene. Additional officers arrived on the scene and were able to apprehend them. The fleeing juveniles forcefully pulled away and struggled with the officers while being detained and were verbally abusive with officers.

Officers found overturned trash cans and trash scattered throughout the shelter house and playground area and found damage to the shelter house.

A school staff member was contacted and requested to come to the scene. That staff member requested charges be filed against the teens.

All of the juveniles were transported to the Bedford Police Department and their parents or guardians were alerted.

While at the Bedford Police Department, officers detected the odor of alcohol while interacting with the juveniles. All of the juveniles were administered a preliminary breath test that yielded a positive result for two of the detained juveniles.

Police also searched a backpack and found a metal grinder, a black and green container containing marijuana, and a blue plastic pipe.
