Culvert pipe replacements to cause temporary closure of State Road 42

CLAY CO. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a temporary closure of around two miles of State Road 42 in Clay County.

Starting on or after Monday, October 23, S.R. 42 will be closed from County Road 300 West to S.R. 59.

During the closure, crews will be working on replacing culvert pipes.

The closure will run from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.

Crews expect to be finished with the work by early November, weather permitting.

While the closure is in place, the official detour will be Interstate 70 to U.S. 40 (Old S.R. 46).

INDOT encourages all drivers to slow down, avoid distracted driving and keep worker safety top-of-mind while going through the area.
