Columbus police investigate a shooting that left a man in “extremely critical condition”

COLUMBUS — Columbus Police officers are looking for information on a Wednesday evening shooting in the city’s northside at Pinebrook Courts Apartments.

According to a news release, detectives are investigating a shooting that reportedly occurred in the 1900 block of Pinebrooke Court around 10:27 p.m. Wednesday.

Police initially responded to the home after a report of a robbery and numerous reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man in the yard of the apartment complex. He had suffered a gunshot wound. Police administered CPR until paramedics arrived on the scene. The man was flown to an Indianapolis hospital and was reported in “extremely critical condition” this morning. The name of the man has not been released.

Police also located and detained the shooter, and secured the handgun used in the incident.

Police are not releasing the name of the shooter, who is also an adult male. The person believed to be the shooter was later released from police custody.
