The Tax Court, established by the General Assembly effective July 1, 1986, has exclusive jurisdiction over any case that arises under the Indiana tax laws and that is an initial appeal of a final determination made by the Indiana Department of Revenue and the Indiana Board of Tax Review. It also has jurisdiction over certain appeals from the Department of Local Government Finance. A Tax Court decision is final unless granted further review by the Indiana Supreme Court. Hearings and oral arguments are open to the public. Opinions and Tax Summaries, brief summaries of filed cases, are posted online.
