Mitchell man arrested after sending harassing text messages

MITCHELL – A Mitchell man was arrested on a charge of invasion of privacy after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department investigation that began on July 6, 2023.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on August 7, 2023, a woman reported that 46-year-old Michael Lemmons was violating a court-ordered protective order.

The woman wanted to file charges. She told police that Lemmons was allowed to speak to her about their children and only their children. But she claimed Lemmons had been texting her about other things from July 6th through August 4th. She provided police with screenshots of those harassing text messages.

She told police she had also received similar text messages on May 23rd and contacted her attorney who told her to report it to police.

Police say Lemmons was violating the protective order by harassing the woman.

Police attempted to contact Lemmons on August 8th to get his side of the story but he would not answer the phone or voice messages.

Police then went to his home in the 700 block of Wesley Chapel Road but were unable to connect with him.

On August 8th the woman again contacted police saying Lemmons was again texting her and was in violation of the protective order.

On August 11th, police once again attempted to contact Lemmons by phone but were unsuccessful. answer.

The information was sent to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
