May 30, 1938 – October 6, 2023

Donald Eugene Morecraft, Sr. passed peacefully from this life on October 6, 2023, following a fall the day before. He was 85 years old.

Don was born on May 30, 1938, to Francis Josephine Davis and Harold Eugene Morecraft in Paris, Illinois.  Don graduated from Paris High School in 1957 and joined the US Air Force.  Following his service, he made his home in Paris where he operated the Morecraft Painting Company. Don was living with his daughter Melinda at the time of his death in Bedford, Indiana.

Don is survived by his partner, Nancy; his children Donald Morecraft, Stephanie (Dan) Toller, Mel (Randy) Roach, Shanda (Robert) St Clair; grandchildren Chastine (Chris) Owens, Tabitha Webster, Sarah (Jeff) Hoffman, Brooke Toller, and Jacob (Sandra) Toller, Matt (Lynnette) Roach and Zach (Tiana) Roach; great-grandchildren – Faith Daugherty, Zaine Daugherty, Grant Owens, Zoey Hoffman, Andrew Hoffman, Kalen Roach, Ayden Webster and Chasae Roach; one brother, Jim (Debbie) Morecraft; and four sisters, Eleanor Barbalas, Anna Purcell, Nancy (Joe) Creech and Suzy Brading; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care he received from the ER and 3rd-floor staff at IU Health Bloomington. A heartfelt thank you to the team at SouthernCare Hospice for their quick response and their loving compassion, especially Alissa, Dan, Kelly, and Rick.

While we are heartbroken at the loss of our Dad, we take comfort that he is with loved ones on the other side of the veil.  Our Dad loved Jesus Christ and his Heavenly Father, spending a considerable amount of his later years immersed in the scriptures.

There will be a celebration of his life held at a later date.

Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the
arrangements for Mr. Morecraft.

Condolences and memories can be shared at www.FergusonLee.com.
