INDIANA – Detectives from the Indiana State Police Pendleton District are assisting the Indiana Department of Corrections Internal Affairs Division on an investigation into an assult on a correctional officer by an inmate.
On Thursday, October 6, 2023, at approximately 12:30 p.m., radio traffic indicated that a correctional officer was assulted by an inmate inside the Pendleton Correctional Facility located in Pendleton, Indiana. Responding officers immediately rendered medical aid to the injured officer and the injured officer was transported to a hospital in the Indianapolis area.
This information is being released at the request of the Indiana Department of Corrections. This is still an active and ongoing investigation, further information will be released at a later time.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
