Traffic stop detains driver and finds a gun, pills, and meth

WASHINGTON – A Monroe City man was detained on Tuesday, October 3 after a Washington Police officer stopped him for a traffic violation.

Around 11:42 p.m. the officer pulled over 63-year-old Gregory Vories near the intersection of Southeast 2nd Street and Hayes Avenue.

During the stop, police dog Fen alerted officers to drugs in the vehicle. Police found pills, a handgun, meth, drug paraphernalia, and items used to manufacture meth.

Vories was detained on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possessing a firearm with an altered ID, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
