Double fatality in Montgomery, another seriously injured

MONTGOMERY – On Thursday, at 1:46 p.m. Daviess County Central Dispatch was alert to a two-vehicle head-on collision in McCracken’s Curve west of Montgomery.

Daviess County Sheriff’s Department deputies rushed to the scene.

According to police, a 2015 Hyundai Elantra was traveling west on US 50, and for an unknown reason crossed the center line and struck a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado head-on.

The driver of the Hyundai Elantra was identified as 20-year-old Allison Potts, from Washington. The front seat passenger was identified as 23-year-old Braydyn Baker, also of Washington.

Both Potts and Baker died at the scene.

The driver of the Chevy Silverado was identified as 68-year-old James Clark, from Washington. He suffered severe injuries and was flown to Deaconess Midtown Hospital for treatment.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is the investigating agency. The Indiana State Police are reconstructing the accident.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, Cannelburg Volunteer Fire Department, the Daviess County Ambulance Service, the Daviess County Coroner’s Office, the Indiana State Police, and Tri-County Wrecker Service.
