Deputies respond to a fatal accident after driver crashes into a tree

BLOOMINGTON – On Tuesday, September 19, Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 3330 North Brummetts Creek Road for an inverted single-vehicle accident with injury.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined Virgil Hupp of Bloomington, was the sole occupant of the
vehicle. Hupp was traveling north on North Brummetts Creek Road, when he left the roadway for
an unknown reason, traveled approximately 25 yards off the roadway, then collided with a tree. As a result of the collision, the vehicle overturned.

Hupp was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision but died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the Monroe County Coroner’s Office, Monroe Fire Protection District, and IU Health Ambulance Service.
